Lake Forest High School Varsity coach Tom Myers and his staff will be hosting a Conditioning Clinic for 13 & 14 year old LFBA players on Saturday Jan. 30th. This clinic will be held at the L.F.H.S. East Campus from 9:00am to 11:00am. Registered U13 & U14 players should report to the lobby between the main gym and field house shortly before 9:00am on Saturday.
Coach Myers and his staff will provide details on a weight training and agility program specifically designed for baseball players. This program is currently used by the L.F.H.S. baseball teams to build strength, increase speed & agility and help avoid injuries. Participants will be provided with demonstrations, reference materials and given an opportunity for hands on practice. Due to the intensity and nature of this specific program it is limited to just the older players.
Please note that his program is offered only as a benefit to 2010 registered LFBA players and is voluntary. Participation has no bearing on tryouts or player selections for the 2010 season. If players have not yet registered they may do so online at LFBA.net.

Last night, LFBA kicked off the 2010 pre-season as Lake Forest Head Varsity Baseball Coach Tommy Myers ran the boys through a series of hitting drills during the voluntary winter workout clinics.
An enthusiastic Coach Myers and about 10 additional coaches from his staff and trainers from Bat Speed helped the boys with hitting fundamentals, including flip drills, hitting off a T, a machine, and live pitching.
Turnout for all age groups was greater than anticipated, signally a strong upcoming season for Scouts baseball.
The next clinic is next Sunday, January 31. For a complete schedule, click here.

The 2010 season is here. And it promises to be better than ever. As you can tell from our new (and still coming together) website, quite a lot has changed. We’ve added many new facets to and worked to improve every part of the baseball program. One of the biggest changes you’ll notice is the new emphasis on LFBA being a “Feeder Program” for Lake Forest High School. We’re working in concert with the high school coaches, including head varsity coach Tom Myers, to ensure our efforts are coordinated and that LFBA is delivering the best possible coaching to the boys at all age groups. Part of that change is the new logo and name: Lake Forest Scouts Baseball. But you can still call us LFBA too.
Scouts Baseball has also been a part of a new movement among the towns along the North Shore to develop a new league, specifically tailored to community-based feeder programs. You can read about the Lake Shore Feeder Baseball league here.
While year-round, travel baseball managed by professional clinics has its place among the offerings, the parents involved with Scouts Baseball think it’s important to provide a quality baseball experience for boys to play with their school friends and neighbors and that does not require year-round commitment. We share this philosophy with the other communities who founded the new league.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing the new and exciting changes to LFBA, which we think will make 2010 the best season ever.
Starting in January, we hope to use the new website extensively in our efforts to provide complete information as timely as possible. As the year progresses, you’ll find more and more helpful sections, from schedules to coaches’ comments to up-to-the-minute field reports. We’ll also be asking a parent from each team to help keep relevant team pages updated. It’ll be easy!
